Large 20–60L jerry cans and containers place higher demands on mold structure than small bottles. Handle forming, bottom strength, neck accuracy, parting surfaces and cavity balance all influence whether the finished product can remain stable during continuous production. For this reason, our custom extrusion blow molding molds are developed specifically around the structural requirements of larger HDPE products.
During mold design, we pay close attention to handle areas, corners, bottom geometry, neck position, venting and flash control. These sections can strongly affect product appearance, dimensional consistency and demolding performance. The cavity must also work together with the machine’s die head and parison forming condition so that material can be distributed more effectively across the larger product surface.
Different mold materials are available, including S50C, P20, 2316 stainless steel, S136H and 7075 aluminum. Material selection is based on expected production volume, cooling requirement, maintenance preference and investment level. Beryllium copper inserts can also be used where additional cooling or durability is needed.
Our goal is not only to make a mold that can produce one acceptable sample, but to develop a structure that supports repeatable production. By matching the mold to the customer’s product design, machine model and output target, we help improve forming consistency and production reliability for 20–60L industrial containers.
